We Have A Winner!

Forget the Oscars. Golden Globes, who? The only winning you need to care about this week is who you have voted as the top Rudebox Short.

And we are thrilled announce that directors Nahuel Lerena and Pato Byrne's film 12ᅢ Pounds has been voted Rudebox Shorts Audience Award winner by all of you who visited the Rudebox Shorts site, so thanks for all of your votes!

So what are the Rudebox Shorts again? If you've forgotten, or haven't heard of them yet, these are a set of short films, rather than straight-up pop videos, made by edgy, independent filmmakers – as chosen by Robbie. Because Robbie liked them so much, he thought it provided a chance to uncover brand new filmmaking talent. So along with indy filmmaking site Shooting People, and Channel 4, he launched a competition for any budding new filmmakers to enter a competition and film a short based on his track The 80s.

The Rudebox Shorts competition was launched in October, and filmmakers simply uploaded their mini-movies when they were happy with their finished film. Since then we’ve had close to 200 entries. And you lot have been voting ever since.

So today, we give a warm congratulations to the film, 12ᅢ Pounds, which was voted as a favourite by the majority of voters. And as the winner of the Audience Award, Nahuela and Pato also bag the top prize: a cool £7귔! That’s what we call a team effort.

But the winner isn't the only one to benefit, there are also a handful of brilliant runner-up prizes in the Rudebox Shorts competition: The winner and those in second and third place will get to pitch for a future Robbie Williams video, and the all those whose films make it into the top five will win a year's subscription to both RobbieWilliams.com and Shooting People.

That's the Audience Award out of the way, but there is still the Jury Award to come. Because the idea of the competition was to uncover new talent, the films are also being judged by the experts. A panel of respected judges, including TV film critic Jonathan Ross, Channel 4 Head of T4 and 4Music Jules Oldroyd, legendary producer Lord Puttnam, Video Commissioner and Producer Carrie Sutton and Robbie himself, will also select their favourite Rudebox Short, and the winner of the Jury award will also bag £7귔. Not bad eh?

We will be announcing the Jury award soon, so keep your eyes on RobbieWilliams.com to find out who's won and get the latest. Meantime, make sure you check out the Audience Award winner, 12ᅢ Pounds below.
