Soccer Aid 2014 teams announced

As the world readies itself for a summer of football we are thrilled to reveal full details for the event set to kick it all off in style - Soccer Aid 2014.

Robbie will once again lead a star-studded England team composed of footballing heroes, Hollywood A-Listers and some of the UK’s most famous faces. Joined by an equally-formidable fusion of stars from both on and off the pitch, Welshman Michael Sheen will captain the Rest of the World in their effort to avenge 2012’s 3-1 defeat.

Joining Homeland's Damian Lewis, Olly Murs, John Bishop, Jonathan Wilkes and Mark Owen in this year's England squad will be True Blood's Stephen Moyer and Doctor Who's Matt Smith. They'll play alonside TV presenters Paddy McGuinness, Ben Shephard, Bradley Walsh and Heart FM's Jamie Theakston as well as footballing legends Jamie Redknapp, Jamie Carragher, David Seaman and Teddy Sherringham.

Facing this mighty melange, the Rest of the World squad welcomes the return of James McAvoy and Gordon Ramsay, who'll be teaming up with Westlife's Nicky Byrne, comedian Patrick Kielty and American new boy Man v Food presenter Adam Richman. The team will be going double Dutch as they're joined by Edwin van der Sar and Jaap Stam as well as many more high-profile names yet to be anounced.

Follow Robbie and Soccer Aid on Twitter to hear about the new players as they’re added.

Robbie’s as eager for the players to hit the pitch as we are:

"Soccer Aid returns for the fifth time in June," he said, "and I admit there are scores to settle. Leading the England team, I will be making sure we defend that trophy against Rest of the World. There’s never been a better time for us to show our support for UNICEF so please dig deep and buy your tickets now!”

The brainchild of Robbie and UNICEF UK, Soccer Aid was established in 2006 to raise funds for UNICEF in their efforts to help struggling children in developing countries. 2012’s event saw the total raised so far top £12m. To secure your place in the crowd for this year’s match and contribute towards this vital cause, book your tickets here.
